Bill I have reloaded and shot a fair amount of the spreader loads the last few years. Polywad gave me a hint a long time ago that made the reloading process much easier. That was simply to use the 16 gauge spreader inserts in the 12 gauge loads. The spreader inserts for a 12 gauge are similar to the size of the hull opening and rather tricky to get seated properly on top of the shot charge. The 16 however slips right in with a lot more ease and has had no effect on the loads I have patterned. If you make yourself one of these handy dandy tools you will assure yourself that your insert is seated the exact same depth every time and that it is set perfectly level. Just start the insert by hand down to the end of the hull and use the tool to seat it. It will speed the process up as well. Good luck.
