At my club here in Kentucky the turkey shoots are huge events drawing hundreds of shooters. A few years ago the rules were changed to eliminate the scopes and a maximum barrel length was established. I guess the slow muzzle velocities are to help maintain tight patterns. That might be a good strategy for actual turkey hunting loads with larger shot.
