Actually, it is better not to remove the stock unless you really need to. Stocks can be refinished without taking the gun apart. Just tape off the metal. Its safer to leave the metal in place. I have seen people sand off too much leaving the wood lower than the metal. Also, it is easy, if you are not extremely careful, to break off a sliver of wood from the tang. I have seen this on a lot of Parkers. Better not to take the gun apart if one is not familiar with how it is done correctly.
