I could never figure out why my dog couldn't find those two birds. The only thing I can think of is they drifted quite a distance and I had to follow them and mark them down the best I could. Birds generally thrash a bit spreading enough scent making them easy to find. But those two birds were dead in the air and dropped quite a distance to hit the ground. There was probably very little scent for the dog to pick up.
