Livengood is an old mining town named after Jay Livengood who first discovered gold there in 1914. I think the calculated gold resource for the hardrock deposit there is now 16 million ounces.

Interestingly enough, there was, in the not too distant past, a lot of surviving original buildings left in the town, but our government considering them a public risk, which they most definitely were not, burned the entire lot. I'm sure they said, "it's for the good of the people, you know"....
