While I'll always have a soft spot for Buckingham's Play House, two recent reads, both non-fiction, I found better than average: The Devils Teeth by Susan Casey, about the Farallon Islands and Great Whites and the toughening up of a city girl, and Dead Wake by Erik Larson about the last crossing of the Lusitania and a pretty good view of life in 1915.
