Default 14 ga roll crimper??

I bought an antique 16 ga roll crimper off of ebay a month or so ago. I haven't been really happy with its performance. It bells out the end of the hulls making them difficult to load into the chamber. A couple of weeks ago I purchased a 20 ga roll crimper and have been really pleased. Nice, tapered ends. In the 20 ga loader the 20 ga hull is very snug in the ring you slide the hull through. In the 16 loader a 16 hull is very loose. A 12ga hull will fit through the ring of the "16ga" loader, but won't enter the brass crimping part (sorry about the terminology). The loader has no markings on it.

Is it possible I have a 14 ga roll crimper? I read somewhere on-line that 14ga shells were available into the 1920's and the last gun was probably made prior to WWI.

the loader came from a separate lot than the rest of the 16 ga tools.
