I'm also of the mindset to not spray the dog (not saying I'm educated on the subject).

We use Frontline but in heavily infested areas I'll whip out the dog vest sometimes & give that a spritz or two.

I cannot recall which, but I seem to recall that cinnamon or lemon juice mixed w/water is a natural deterrent.

I spray myself down w/the hard stuff (on clothes)
