The 1894 uses large flat leaf springs for the hammers. I would not think the mechanism to continue working with a broken spring. Unless maybe just the end of it is broken or something causing light pressure.

The pins are part of the hammers, much like Parkers are.

Is the firing pin contacting the primer at all?
