I passed around my DH 8 at the AH Fox BoWoop practice last year. Where the best of the 12 and 10 gauge shooters best scores was 8 of 10 targets, nearly all of those who shouldered my 8 broke 7 or 8 birds. Some of those targets were what seemed to be 80 yards away.

There is still magic in those .840" bores!
