Well the 2016 New Years Day shoot at Major Waldrons Sportsman's Association in Barrington NH is in the history books. We had good weather and good turnout of PGCA members in this part of the country. I was pleased to find in attendance today three members of the PGCA board and our webmaster. We were treated to a lot of nice guns, some seen before and some first time appearances. My vote for Best of Show goes to Bob Weeman he snagged a really nice Remington 1894 CE 10ga. However some folks may have voted for Dean's 28ga or perhaps John D's 410 or maybe his grand dads AAHE trap.
In between shooting rounds of trap and skeet we played a couple of long range trap shooting games. An Annie Oakley with two man teams at each station. A 12ga taking the first shot and a 10ga backing them up if they missed. Of course if the 10ga shooter fires at a broke target the team is scored a loss, oh ya it happened a few times. The winners were Bob Fabian, DHE trap and Bob Weeman, Remington 1894 CE 10ga.
Next up we lined up everyone at the 27 yard line and had 3 shooters poised to shoot at a target. If the first man hit, he is safe. Then the next 3 shooters who have not shot put their guns up. If the first man missed and the second man hit the first man is out, same for 1st and 2nd miss and 3rd shooter hits, 1 and 2 are out. Another scenario, first man misses, second man hits and third man shoots, in that case 1 and 3 are eliminated. First to fall was Dean Romig, last to fall was Bob Weeman and John Dunkle won shooting his heirloom AAHE trap, congrats John.
First up is John Dunkle shooting his heirloom AAHE trap on the skeet field, he really did well with it considering the chokes and he was much improved when I told him to try it shooting with his head on the stock.
PGCA Board member and first time attendee, Mike Kobos.
Misc, doublegun porn.
Dean Romig's 28ga or wait is it John D's 410????? Ya know all those small bores look the same hahaha
L -R Dean Romig, John Dunkle, George Purtill, Mike Kobos. I think George was telling them about the only bird he missed today.
What is not to like about a one of a kind AAHE Trap.
More gun porn.
George Purtill, now you see him.....
Now you don't.
I could have used a wide angle for this beast, Frank Cronin's 5 frame 10ga hammer gun.
A couple of nice doubles, Bob Weeman's Remmy '94 CE 10ga and an Ithaca Trap gun
The Rem '94 CE Ten
Yup more gun porn.
Can you pick out the 5 frame?
This kind of looks like Frank Cronin but can't be him as this guy is shooting some single barrel gun with a horribly loose forend.
Bob Weeman and Rick Weik.
Bill Janelle, Scott Kittredge, Bob Fabian
Larry Frey, shooting Skeet for close to the first time and spanking everyone on the squad.
"Hatless" George Purtill.
Bob Fabian, that gun looks kind a big and does that have external hammers?
....and my last pic of the day, Bill Janelle (He is a much better cook than marksman)....seriously he brought us a wonderful Venison Chili.
