This a solid looking gun but it sure is dirty. If it were mine, I would get out the Hoppe's #9 and start cleaning the heavy oil buildup away. Then, use some Murphy's Oil Soap to get the grime off the wood.

I want to stress, clean the dirt and grime away but do not change the condition of the gun.... don't polish or buff or scrape. Let the normal accumulation of wear and handling alone, just clean away the dirt.

Any opinions guys, should it be cleaned? If so, are there better ways to approach the job?

That looks like a nice Parker, you have a good find there.
