TurKey Day Duck Hunt
Today the weather was mild, the tide extremely low and the gunning slow. Scott and I went out for a short duck hunt which we have done each Thanksgiving morning for many years. Today we hunted a river where I shot my first duck some 41 years ago. Today I got my first duck with my first shot at a duck from my Lefever G grade 10ga. This year a new 1974 12' foot boat I fixed up has replaced my old faithful 1961 Starcraft that was too tired to keep using after 25 years of salt water gunning. It's a bit of work to slide the boat over the banking and carry the engine and everything else to it and then get up the bank and back to the truck but it is usually worth it. We had never seen a low tide so low as this morning, probably due to the full moon. We walked the boat more than half way to where we hunted. A pleasant Thanksgiving Day and I reminded myself I have much to be thankful for. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!
