Speaking of old receipts - while packing up all of my "stuff" from my old office/gun room to bring down to my new 'digs' I came across the receipt dated December 23, 1969 to Long's Jewelers for the diamond solitaire engagement ring I presented to Kathy two days later on Christmas Day 1969. Boy, times were different then. Boy, has inflation escalated out of control. Boy, today's value on that ring is about 10X what I paid my very hard-earned cash for back then.
The other day when I showed that old receipt to Kathy she made some remark about somebody being a cheapskate.....
I don't think she understood that I was earning about $2.25/hr at that time.... so I put it into perspective for her. Now she understands.
