Based on the little bit that I can see of that stock, it looks like it MAY not even be an original stock. The cheek has been reworked poorly and the checkering is not anywhere near correct.

All sorts of things can be done to "correct" a bolted or pinned head. Personally I like to fix split heads before someone has stuck a pin or a bolt through it.

Given the shape of the rest of the gun, unless it is next to free, walk on it. It's only a P grade with no finish lest on it.
