I had an exploration camp set up in 2007 that was in some ag fields 100mi SE of Fairbanks. We were set up in a field in front of a fellows trailer house. His dog was a friendly something or other and occasionally a coyote would come out of the tree line in mid day and yip at this dog to try to get him to "come over and play".... which if it worked would result in he and his buddies who were hiding in the woods jumping and killing the pet dog. I watched this scene several times. The owner had to get the dog chained up so he couldn't run off and "play". Mid day too; we all sat and watched this. Were it my yard that coyote would have been put down fast.
