Default Duck hunt, but I think we have lost Frank Cronin

Bill Janelle, Scott Kittredge and I got up early today and put our two small boats out on the Oyster River at 5:30AM. We had a decent wind and snow squalls all day. It was the best day we have seen yet this year with at least 200 ducks circling and dropping into our small spread of decoys in the first 2 hours of shooting.

Armed with three Short Tens, we were shooting sillouettes in the early morning light. Scott and I dropped a Black Duck each first thing. Bill "Lucky" Janelle, dropped a Greenhead, and then a hen and then another hen leaving Scott and I straining to find some colors for a shot. Finally a pair came in and Scott shot the Greenhead and took the Susie. Then Bill finally got a black duck to end the day.

Frank Cronin was going to join us but he decided to run a scrape line tonight and he wanted to be on top of his game for it. He told me on the phone he had met a woman and was going out with her again tonight. Then I thought he started to talk about his new Elsie 20ga, "Pete, she is real nice, she has got nice long legs, like a pair of 32" barrels", she is well balanced, ,good dimensions, double beads and felt good in his hands.......

I think we may have seen the last of Frank for the rest of this season.
