Bill,
The case is softwood. Pine or spruce I would guess. I wondered if it might have been a shipping case that was repurposed, The lining is falling apart and I want to reline. The two hooks and 2 hinges are brass. One hook has broken off. The leather strap is secured on the bottom with wood screws. Looks homemade and obviously very old. I will attach a photo.

The gun was found in the attic of the previous owner in the case shown. The previous owner wasn't born when the gun was completed. I can't ask its history. My thought is it was his father's gun. The house was home to 5 generations of the same family.

As completed on May 25, 1916 the gun lettered with 13 1/4" LOP, 3" DAH, weight 5 pounds 13 ounces. Unfortunately, there is no order information to know the original dealer or buyer. Specifications are so unusual I wouldn't expect the gun was made for inventory but I may never know its history.

The "Clown Catalog" unfortunately isn't original but is embroidered on my sweatshirt, well fortunately it is on my sweatshirt. It is a one off that I has done for myself.
