Robin nailed it all right. My dad lied about his age and enlisted in the US Marines in 1941 at 16yrs old. I have his enlistment and mustering out papers, his military ID card, and his aluminum USMC social security card, which is quite the piece of work. He passed through Alaska on the carrier Yellowjacket and was on about every island in the South Pacific for 5 yrs, mustering out in 1946. No one in my family would dare buy a Japanese car even now, due more to growing up in car country in SE Michigan than WWII though. My dad sure never had one. Anyone needing a reminder should read "The Rape of Nanking" by Iris Chang. After reading that I have two good reasons for never buying a Japanese car. It is a shocker and an eye opener. God bless everyone who has served and for the sacrifices made.
