The hardest grouse to hit
when they finally flush are the ones you see
first either on the ground or in a tree. You think you have them dead to rights but you wind up psyching yourself out and miss cleanly when they flush. I love to see them budding like that but they look like sitting ducks to all the birds of prey. Thank the Great Spirit there are always enough of them in the spring for 'seed stock'.
By the way, I count eight months, three days, nine hours and thirteen minutes
