LEFEVER FOREND WITH BUTTON HARDWARE REMOVAL

Could someone tell me how to remove the forend hardware for a true Lefevre that uses the button in the middle for the release. All screws are out but the button does not obviously pull through and it is still attached to the internal metal with the spring, etc. We cannot get the two apart and there must be some trick to it.

We thought of driving the pin out to get the latching mecanism loose but there must be an easier way.

Thanks.

It is tricky There is a little screw in there that you need to get out. If you really don't have to take it apart, Don't it is just as hard to get back together.
Buck Hamlin is the Lefever guru he can help you. good luck

I delayed in answering this until I could take one apart that I have here. The escutcheon is held in by just the one screw that is in the front of the forend iron. But, the push button is retained by an additional screw. The small one behind the front screw. The actual escutcheon will come out by tapping on the front screw after turning loose. Then the button can be pulled out by removing the small screw.

That is at least how the forend from my F grade comes apart. And that one is 1888 vintage if I remember correctly.
