Quail Gun, 20ga
8 Attachment(s)
Lots of talk recently about 24" barrels, 1/2PG and checkered butt stocks.
Here are all three together in one gun. Interesting choke description on this gun. The 1910 order book says to choke to provide "good" patterns at 25 and 30 yards. As measured today, they are .006 and .010. This gun was patterned by Parker with 3/4 oz , 2 dram loads. This makes a good quail and woods grouse gun. I've sometimes used it for pheasant but the charge is a little light for wild birds at distance so I don't use it much. |
once again - thanks for sharing a unique Parker most of us would never see otherwise
|
Bruce, send it my way, I'll test it on grouse in the northen woods and get back to you after a few years of testing to see if it patterns correctly. :)
Send me a pm for my address......Eric |
Once again Bruce you post photos of a gun that takes my breath away.
|
Bruce, isn't your little Damascus gun 24" also?
|
The one you are thinking of is a 1904 CHE 20/26 Damascus. Patterned by Parker with 7/8oz, 2 1/4 dre. It has original chokes at left full, right IC. The combination of full and IC chokes occurs frequently in Parkers intended for upland game use.
When we compare the guns, we see in this instance Parker used a lighter patterning load on a fluid steel gun than a damascus gun, both 0 frame 20's and generally comparable intended usage. |

Bruce, I will dig out my old hammer gun 3416 and take some photo,s. It is in a wooden case with two sets of barrels, 30" damascus and 24"twist, each has a forend and the "bow tie" checking on them, maybe monday when I get back from the gun show, was thinking about taking it to sell, has mirror bores in both barrels. Bruce -- here is a couple of photos of "My" girl -- 26" ballgrip che 20 with those damn damascus barrels choked ic/full. This the best shooting Parker I have ever owned. Rich Anderson wants to trade dog flesh and a hard working woman for her:shock:
Only 1 problem, Traci shoots the lights out of it and has sworn it to personal use! |
Chuck that is an exquisite Parker. Just beautiful.
