several parkers-- general info/estimate

Hi all,

Well, I am starting to sort through the estate and found an appraisal sheet. I have an uncle who might be interested in buying one of these at fair market value, so I am trying to figure that out. Also, I plan to keep a 12ga and 20 ga. Any insight, thoughts about below would be great.

Parker DHE 12 ga, 30" #212317
Parker DHE 20 Ga, SG, 28", #170,880
Parker DHE 20GA, PG 26", #228,790
Parker VH 16GA PG, 28", #174300
Parker GH Damascus 16Ga, #88,1763
ParkerDamascus Hammer 12Ga, #38,388

Thank you,
Jake (John)

The DHE 20 straight grip sounds nice to me.

Agreed, and that serial range is from a period of wonderful engraving.

All of them sound good to me.:)

My advice

Jake-
DHE's are wonderful guns.
16 gauges are wonderful guns.
The hammer gun is wonderful.
You are probably receiving tons of private messages from members trying to scarf the guns for a song.
Don't sell to the first person who hits your mailbox.
Join the PGCA and do it the right way. Get appraisals from people in the trade and offer tham for sale.

Thank you for the feedback and advice. I am planning on joining PGCA. How do you get a fair estimate? I am hoping to do the right way. Honestly, I figure time is on my side.

Start with the Blue Book of Gun Values. Some think it is not representative but it is a good place to start learning about values.

Hi George,

You are requesting an appraisal on six Parker shotguns. With a set of good, clear photos and an honest description of each gun the PGCA members can give you a value range. In turn it would respectful of us if you would join the PGCA.

Once you are a member you will have access to the Members Forums with a For Sale sub-forum. Look at the Parkers that have been sold by members to identify what parts of the guns to photograph. Once you post a set of photos wait for the opinions of several members.

You may also want to watch gunbroker.com for the price that similar Parkers sell for. Also, look at Parkers on Guns International and Guns America for what people are trying to sell their Parkers. Lower those prices by 20% and you’ll know what a quick sale price will be!

If you live near members they may meet you or invite you over to assess your Parkers. Once again, get a few opinions about a fair price before you offer anything for sale.

I hope this helps,
Mark

Hello John,

The important thing is to do your research carefully and take your time before you post any guns for sale. Once you're comfortable with your data, then announce to the world. Just remember, haste makes paste.

What does the appraisal sheet say? The best place to get an accurate apprasal is probably right here. Take some clear up close photos and post them one gun at a time. Can't wait to see how they look!
