Thank you Mr Dunkle
I again want to thank you for what you do here. As I have stated before you guys have an outrageous passion for your parkers. And with that passion emotions run high. As we have seen repeatedly over the last week or so(including yours....smiles.) Not all are able to temper their passion with compassion. And you sir have compassion with your passion. Which I must applaud. This is a job I would NEVER want. smiles. I am sure facillitating this forum is unimaginably difficult at times. Thank you for enduring. And I thank you so very much for doing this job, as I have thouroughly enjoyed reading many posts.
You have the heart of a true gentleman sir. Thank you. Many blessings, Lee PS One wrote in an earlier post that this forum to create an atmosphere as if we were all at a nice dinner conversing. I liked that very much. smiles. And there are a few on here that I would thouroughly enjoy just sitting and listening to. You would be one....and Mr Romig too. (this was to go on other post.....written before you closed....) |
John: I would just like to second Lee's reply. We would all be well served to conduct ourselves on this forum as we would if having a conversation over Sunday dinner. We all have our opinions as to how we would run this "show" if were ours to run, but most of us would run off screaming if we actually had to do it. I, for one, would like to see a "Parkers For Sale" section here if there was a viable & safe way to do it.
Just My Humble Opinion........George |
Hi George and Lee,
Actually - I took a minute to privately thank Lee for her post earlier today. Lee, thank you again. I apologize that you were trying to post to that thread earlier when I closed it - and had I realized the nature of your post - certainly would have left it open... ( ;) ) Seriously - my thanks again to you all all for the "vote of confidence". It means a lot. As well, George - my thanks to you. All I can say is that I know everyone's voice and opinion is being heard, considered and thought hard about. I can say that, and also add that the Parker Gun Collectors Forum is unique by virtue of the individuality of its Members and supporters. And is unique that folks like Lee & Dean aren't daunted and driven away. Rather - they stick around to help us all get this done a "just a little better" when the next "Dean" or "Lee" posts on this site... So yep - as you state, if there is going to be a For Sale section - it will be a "safe haven", it will be viable and it will be an asset to the PGCA and a credit to both its members and the Board of Directors... My sincerest thanks to all of you... John |
Ms. Alexander - I applaud your grace under difficult circumstances. Sounds to me as though you maybe the sort of person who also fly fishes. Are you familiar with Rockwell Springs in Castalia? A neat trout fishing country club. Our daughter lives in Westlake, so, coming from the Detroit area we often pass close to Rockwell on our way to visit the crumb crunchers.

Thank you Mr Dallas. smiles.
I think fly fishing would be a challenge I would enjoy, but have never done it. I have visited the hatchery in Castalia and enjoyed. My dad was rasied on a private duck hunting club on the western basin of Erie. He had no sons....I was elected. smiles. He hunted and fished. I was raised fishing, trapping, and hunting with him. My fishing extent was seine and hook and line. He continues to commercial fish at the age of 75. Maybe fly fishing one day.... |
Lee,
I suggest you write a couple articles about the Duck clubs of Erie and the men that shot there. Talk to your relatives and friends, I bet they have story's to tell, you may have to change the names to protect the innocent. This is the kind of stuff we like to read in the Parker pages, heck this stuff would make a great book. Any old photo's with double guns would be icing on the cake. Bill |
John Dallas;
I fished the Rockwell Springs Club three weeks ago and had a humbling lesson, my little black flies 4 to be exact were stripped from my leader from a solid strikes and to this minute I have not a clue why. I had never in my past trout fishing have this happen, BTW the tippet material was new this spring from the AuSable Trout Shop in Grayling. This to Bill; I have comming my way a log/record of Duck Hunting at the old Mcgee Marsh on the southside of Lake Erie, one of the club members son had oysters and martinis at my home this past Thursday. The baseball player (Tris Speaker) was also a member of the club. I also am in the long drawn out process of getting a simular archive from the Winous Point Club. These records contain many photos. Time to prime my pump for the almighty OSU/Mich game, hail Woody Hayes, Rog |
Hmmmmm......perhaps let the wrirting up to you guys.....
My dad punted at Cedar Point Shooting Club....Hubert Humphrey was one of the guys he punted for. Was when he was secretary of state under Eisenhower. Dad helped clean out the club house when they turned land over to feds(tax write off.......) My cousins used to run the club house at Winous Point.....they are in Texas for the winter..... Rockwell used to have a private marsh here......I used to run around in that marsh.....when I was young(just a few years ago....). My dad and rockwells caretaker were very good friends. Diamond Alkalai had a private duck hunting club here too.....till a nuke plant got built!! I grew up running there too....the best sponge mushrooms in the spring.....and I was good friends with the caretakers kids growing up. And.....2 sides of my property border the p[rivate duck hunting club my dad grew up on. My uncle is now caretaker. I never really thought about writing stories....but I guess I do have quite a bit of access to those that would have some really great stories. I like the thought of writing......makes me smiile.....but not sure anyone would want to read what I wrote!!! lol. |
Lee,I would love to read what you have to write about..Don,t underestimate yourself.Sounds like you have some great stories floating around in that head of yours....:corn:

Leader Material
Roger; Was that Umpqua Leader? I have never had a fish break a leader until this year; and they weren't big fish. I wound up cutting my leaders back to zeroX and 1X because I was losing so many nymphs on light hang ups.
