A Rare find

For those of you who live in or near West Columbia South Carolina, I only wish I had the money.

Yes that is a very neat gun in very good shape. Hope somebody here gets it.

This great gun is shown on pages 87-91 in the The Parker Story.

Drew, Do you know whether or not the gun is original to the case, looks like it don/t fit just right or maybe it was put in that way for the photo? My brother owns 01943, Gary

I really know nothing about it, I just came across the auction and felt inspired to post about it in case someone had the money and time to go get it.

I owned 01248 for a few years. I bought it and several Parkers at an auction in Portland, Oregon when a collection owned by Mr. Christensen (spelling?) was sold. 1992, as I recall. I bought a T-latch, an 8-gauge top action, and a very nice CHE Bernard -- these along with the 01248 are shown in TPS. Wish I had kept them but I believe most are now owned by PGCA members.

That presale estimate has to be a joke.

George Lander 12-01-2012 11:59 PM

Yes George, and the joke was on me. Both of those were mine and they were given away. I'll know better in the future. However, a PGCA Member in Texas was the fortunate buyer. He called me tonight and asked me to help him with the shipping.
The Grade 3 (D) 10 gauge hammergun was mine as well. It went for $1,200

I was the fortunate winner of the early back action gun and the grade 3 top lever hammergun. I was as surprised as anyone on the final prices that the auctions brought on these fine and desirable guns. I suppose there were just not enough collector/shooters following the auction. Mr. Lander very graciously agreed to arrange the shipping to me. That just goes to show the fine character of the man and his willingness to assist another collector.
I will provide a good home for these treasures and hope to display them in future PGCA events if possible.
With much graditude, I thank you Mr. Lander.
