Thinking of buying a DHE 12 gauge

I am looking at a 12 gauge DHE pistol grip 28 inch barrel 1 1/2 frame. screwss excellent tight gun barrels great shape. had after market old english pad put on chokes unaltered. serial numbers match 200627. Thoughts? engraving sharp.

Gun you described, with the exception of the pad is all correct according to THE BOOK. A 1923 production, in that shape is a find. If priced in the 3K-4K range, you shouldn't get hurt. Post pics if you can and get some more opinions. There are gentlemen here far more knowledgable than I. Thanks, Jim

Only down side is pad rather than original SBP.
GO FOR IT!! They are great guns.
200627 is listed as:
D grade
Titanic Barrels
Ejectors
Pistol Grip
28"

Pad??

I'm confused- a common occurrence according to my children.

Unless you have a letter, how do you know the pad is not correct? [I understand it may have been refreshed.]
BTW- I own 200644 -a DHE 12 cpg 30 inch 1 1/2 frame- and I absolutely love it.

A PGCA letter can easily provide you with original stock dimensions which may give you some clues to the originality of the pad.

rickey hughes 11-20-2012 06:35 PM

the pad is not original it is a red pachmeyer old english style pad the lop is 14.75 so I do believe the stock is uncut as the pad is a 1/2 inch pad. the pistol grip has the parker cap.

Post some pictures if you can.

Hey, if you are convinced the wood is uncut, go for it. It it's that long, it's no big deal if it is cut.

The gun may have originally come with a pad, but it would not have been an old English pad since they were not around at the time the gun as new. If the pad that is on it is red, then at least it has the right look.
