attached is a picture of a 1906 vintage jp sauer.
also attached, is a picture of a 1915 vintage fox sterlingworth. looks like ole ah knew a good thing when he saw it...and just copied it! |
I would be willing to test fire both of them and give you my opinion on weather they are the same. Just lead me to the quail field.:bigbye:

OK Ed -I agreed on the Philadelphia Gun Co Fox design vs the Parker :)
but the Sauer Vs Fox looks to be more like a coincidence. Even if you take the intercepting sears out of the mix. The contours are different and within the limitations of the A&D box - if you want to lighten and countour the outside - there you go. I could see grabing the Philadelphia Gun Co Fox instead of a VH if they were in the same safe in dim light but my Sauer often sits with Foxes in the safe and I have never made that mistake. BUT - nice comparisons - keep them coming :corn: |

jp sauer started making box lock guns around 1890.
ah fox started making box lock guns around 1900. both made fine shotguns. |
