Parker Laminated Steel Barrels

Nothing here folks. No folk art, no butchery, just correct Parkers.

Really like that first one, not that the other isn't great

I wonder if the "Collector of the Golden Towel" can show pictures of the stampings on the barrel flats...?

I believe that some laminated barrels are as nice looking as some Bernards. Bernard is the barrel of choice of course but those Laminated are a close second!

My 1886 Laminated barrels are like the second photo. I plan on a restoration, but I sure wish they looked the top photo.

hello all. i'm still learning about these beautiful guns. I have a 1886 hammer as well with laminated steel and my barrels look nothing like those. so my question is how do i get them looking like that or am i just going to have to live with them the way they are. It belonged to my Grandpa so it is quit cherished piece to me in any condition.

Sometimes they are just cruddy and need to be cleaned , so break the oxidation with light handed metal polishing or steel wood , bronze wool and oil, Flitz, etc.

But to do a first class job, re-browning is the answer.
Two names come to mind:
1. Brad Bachelder, Grand Rapids, MI see links page for ###
2. Dale Edmunds, Kansas City, 816 444 2040

I am sure there are others whom I have inadvertantly omitted.

Both are PGCA members and have done good work for members and for annual drawing guns.

Todd, there are a few variations of "Laminated Steel" used in the making of Parker Bros. shotguns and were made by different methods. I have several Parker hammer guns with Laminated Steel barrels and it is my experience that the earlier guns of higher grade usually had the more ornate barrels than the lower grades of the decade or so before 1900. Only my $125 Grade (predecessor to the Grade 3) has the ornate Laminated Steel barrels as displayed in Bruce's pictures. Yours may never look as nice as the ones shown... or they may. Can you show us pictures of yours? The best place to photograph the pattern is in the area protected by the forend so show us that area please.

Dean
