It's Not a Parker, But....
 

I was visiting a local gunshop this past weekend and was looking at a beat up P-grade. The clerk asked if I liked parkers and I said "yes." He said let me show you this LC Smith. He went to the back of the shop in a little locked cabinent and pulled out a 3E Live Bird gun, no safety, HOT, and 32" barrels. It also has sling swivels. It's a strange combination on a gun like this. but just odd enough to be factory. I need to post these at the LCSCA site, but I have not figured out how to do it. I'm not a good photographer and I'll try to get better ones. I could not leave there. I love any gun with this configuration. It's circa 1907, and it does not appear to have been messed with. It had a lot of "gunshop" dust and crud and it cleaned up nicely. It balances wonderfully, and no cracks in the wood.

Bore diameter is dead nuts on .729 with 20 points in the right and 35 points in the left. Twin ivory beads and a relatively high rib that's finely filed. I need to replace a firing pin bushing, and that does not appear to be too difficult.

That is a nice one. I wish the LCSCA forum was more like the PGCA forum (ie: where you sign in, the posts are easier to follow and a members-only section for buying, selling, etc).

Very nice! i'm a sucker for a straight grip myself. A new Silvers pad and she is field ready. What a great sporting clays gun as well.

I recently sold one of my LC Smiths, so I need to get a new one. Just waiting for the right one to come along . . . . :whistle:

I'm not a big Smith fan but that one would have turned my head too. Nice piece! Rich is right, It'll make a neat clays gun.

That is one nice Smith. It sure is in nice condition.

The first double gun I remember is my Dad's 20 gauge LC Smith Field Grade. It is no collector's item, but LC Smiths will always have special significance because of it. Now, Parkers are better . . . .

I have 3 times the numbers of Parkers as I do Elsies in my collection but I'd swap a good Parker for that 32" 3E!!! If only it had chain Damascus barrels...

Indeed, a very nice Smith! I briefly owned a few, including an A1 and an A2. I actually liked the A1 over the A2! I would not worry about your photography, Ed. You had the decency and foresight to lay a towel down before setting the gun on the bricks!:cheers:
