Yeah, the wood looks too nice compared to the amount of ware on the frame.

If you zoom in on the images of the barrels toward the muzzle you will see what looks like light and dark spots.I believe the barrels have been redone with cold blueing. Also it looks like the forearm metal has been blued. I may be mistaken but ar'nt they case colored with the frame?

Doesn't matter much whether it was refinished or not. The price is obscene.

Eric Grims 09-10-2012 09:18 AM

I am not serious on buying this gun but I am looking for a high condition gun. I also think that is a lot of cabbage for a Trojan . I know that good things are worth waiting for but other than an occasional gun here on PGCA I rarely come across reasonable priced parker guns with condition. But it is also the fun and reward of the endeavor once you find the right piece after a search. Thanks.

In my opinion, all but the receiver was redone on this gun. If you look really close, there are some original case colors remining through the patina on the frame. That is a plus. All the screws that I can see all look very nice. Just the one needs a bit more of a turn.

The wood has been refinished.
The checekring has been recut and not correctly sicne it is fully pointed up. Should be flat. It also does not have the correct mullerd border.
The guard bow and forend have been reblued. And besides, the forend should not be blued anyway.

Overall, not a bad looking gun. But the price is a touch high considering the quality of the gun overall.

Nothing about that gun makes it worth any more than $700, maybe less.

Brian Dudley's analysis of this gun's condition is spot on. Not sure why they didn't just re-color the frame too. Leaving it original patina just doesn't match the new look of the other component parts. Either way, its still a $750 shooter in the end. I guess now we know how Cabela's can afford to have so many big elaborate stores.

Brian Dudley 09-11-2012 07:30 AM

But, if the guns don't sell. Then they can't pay for the stores.
