A Dream Come True

I may come into a bit of cash. Am selling my cabin and have several offers. If the place does sell (I am not holding my breath.) I'll have a few hundred K and I will be able to cut out a bit to buy a Parker. Won't that be nice.

So, all of you Parkerspirts (that means Parker experts) what kind of a Parker would suggest if I spring for if I have, say 10K to spend? I am a bit serious here. I kind of want a lifter. I am not into real high grade guns, but like clean VH's or DH's. Maybe something else. Say you have tenK? What would you recommend I buy?

My Parkers are only two, a nice GH and an SBT Trap SC. I'd like a light weight hunting gun....or one that I could use to shoot skeet. I am not opposed to damascus, as I believe that were as strong as any gun of the time and maybe most. I believe in Sherman Bell's research.

I own several pretty doubles, a Fox, a Lefever, a nice Spanish double and my dad's old Baker 20 gauge. I love Parkers tho. I might spring for a perfect Trojan....

What would you guys do?

30" barrel 20ga, either VH or DH

Since I made my original post I've been looking over the gun sites and see that with 5K I can buy a nice Parker. It is kind of exciting tho, just thinking about it.

What Linn said only I'd opt out for a 32" straight grip 16 or 20 or for me, the holy grail, a 32" 28.

I would keep the cabin.

The DH is a nice grade to look for that shows a lot of Parker's quality without being too much. Same goes for the grade 3 hammer guns.

Where's the cabin, Manhattan:). A small bore, long barreled VH in great condition is understated elegance... Good luck with both the sale and purchase.. Hey, your last name is the same as mine... could you be that long last uncle with the sweet cabin I heard about when I was a kid?

Steve, use the money to find a girl who has no morals and whose father owns a liquor store.Steve, if not now ,when?

Chris Travinski 09-01-2012 12:42 PM

I second the liquor store, business is good when the economy is good and people are happay and good when it's down and people are sad. Sometimes I think the family business is in the wrong liquid, oil. If I had 10K to blow I would find a nice CHE or nicer DHE, straight stock, long barrels, original... What ever you decide to do, don't rush and buy something just for the sake of buying.

If it sells don't let that money burn a hole in your pocket, Keep the cash. and when you see the right gun you can spring for it! Gary
