Conversion of Extractors to ejectors

How difficult is it to convert a set of extractor barrels to ejector barrels? Is it a matter of removing the on piece extractor and fitting the 2 pieces ejectors?

The rib extension is also different, as the ejector rib head has guide slots for the ejector flats. An ejector rib extension will need to be fitted to the barrels, then fitted into the frame recess. Not impossible, but if the number of poorly fitted doll's heads into the frame is any indication, many gunsmiths find it a difficult task. So you will also need to find an ejector rib extension generally sized for your frame recess.

Additionally, the ejector and extractor rods sometimes differ in diameter and you may have to drill the lug passage larger or if the rod is too small, remake the split rod with larger rod stock.

Phil,Also the frame would need to be drilled for the signal pins that protrude from the knuckle of the frame. DelGrego is the only one I know of that has the proper fixture to do this work.

I think what phil might be looking to do is fit a set of extractor barrels to an existing ejector frame. Right? I am not sure, but maybe the underside of the rib extension could be slotted and fitted with the correct end stop. Not sure. But at least we have identified what is different about the two types.

Brian is correct. I have an ejector gun and was trying to find out if a set of extractor barrels could be converted to ejectors for this gun.

I think trying to make an ejectors for an extractoe barrel would be more work/cost than it merits. it would probably be easier to find ejector barrels. Can you fit the extractor bbl and leave it as it is?

Rich,

I think this is what I will do. Sounds like the modification would be cost prohibitive.

Brian is correct for that is how Brad Bachelder converts extractor barrels to ejectors.
