A good Pheasant gun comes home

While at a National Fishing Lure Collectors show this week a fellow had a VH to swap. Another had the paper weight Parker vise to trade. Made deals on both. The VH needs a good cleaning and nothing else that I can tell. Is there an easy way to check the chamber length? A 3" slips in free and easy so would a 2 3/4" be safe to shoot (all else being safe)? In a picture of the top rib it looks like there was a second bead about 2" ahead of the existing bead. Would someone just want to move the bead back some?
Funny what happens when you least expect it.

Boy o boy you did VERY well love that vise!!! That is a great stright grip VH love those SG's. Look in the barrels and stick a pencil in where the chamber ends mark with finger that will give you an idea. 2 frame with woodcock en dog.
