10 gague strength.
:cool:Hi All.
I've just watched a Tv show called mithbusters. On this show they tried to confirm or dispel the mith if you put your finger in the end of a gun barrel and fire it the barrel will peel back like a banana:nono:. As we all know this a load of bull++++ and the rubber hand was blown up. Then they welded a steel plug in the end of one tube and fired again This time 3ins. unwound from the end of the barrels and the top and bottom ribs came off back to the breach ends. But there was no damage at all to the rest of the gun including the breach. The gun was a 10 bore shot gun with demascas barrels. The shells used for this hurendous experiment where 31/2ins. nitro solid slug. Now for the whorst part of whole excercise the gun was a very nice looking PARKER BROTHERS 10 BORE HAMMER GUN. I think this just goes to show how strong these wonderful old guns are. But if you must do the above why o why do it to a lovely old parker hammer. I don't think that tv show will be the same for me again.:crying: All the best Dave.:bigbye: |
It is a shame they did that to a Parker but it speaks well for the receiver. Those guys are very entertaining and very sharp.

Have not found it in English yet but pictures are worth a 1000 words.

still crying
This video makes me cry.
I also cry when they have "turn in your gun days" in Hartford and they saw nice Colt percussion revolvers in half for $50.00 of debit cards. Couldn't they have used something else? [and I do love those Mythbuster guys] |
They never check to see if the guns that are turned in are stolen. Come on down south...we respect the 2nd amendment!

Looked like a Federal 3-1/2" shell.... and a slug to boot! Gawd. What a shame!!
|
I guess they wanted a barrel that would have the greatest possibility for catistrofic failure so they used dam. barrels. Just why a Parker?:crying::crying::crying: You would think that Jamie, being a gun nut would know better.:banghead::banghead:

but this test does shoy the great strenth these damascus barrels have...and i would not doubt that they had to ream the chambers to get the gun to close using that 3 1/2 inch shell..ive tryed just putting a 3 1/2 inch shell in some of these old guns and you could not breach it together... charlie
