i was setting here reading the hgow many shoot the short ten...just got to wandering how many shoot the old 8 ga... as most of you know i shoot an old parker 8 ga lifter and and old f. a. loomis 8 ga...just wondering how many more of yall shoot the old 8 from time to time.... charlie

Haven't shot any of mine for a while, but I still have my components and two lifetimes supply of Eley and Gamebore smokeless bismuth.

Charlie, I have all the "stuff" needed to shoot my two 8s, hammerless P, and a hammered V equivalent, but just don't get around to do it anymore. They are fun guns, though. I have CM cnc manufactured brass and Ballistic Research wads, cups, and cards to use---but they stand idle. Most of my shooting today is with a 1 framed damascus G (12) and a20 GHE.

well looks like theres 3 of us so far...i shoot my old 8 s fairly often have killed a lot of pop cans in my time... are there more of us... charlie

I shot a Turkey this year with my 8 WC Scott and still not in jail.
Starting to reload, got hulls from US and ordered reloading tools from England.
Wish I had a Parker 8 bore and if anyone has one gathering dust, PM me.

I would think that the eight bore would be ideal for the type of pheasant hunts we used to have in the old days, specifically for the "blockers." Twenty of us would walk through stubble or CRP, armed, and with maybe a couple of labs running up and down the line. Facing us at a road or mow-strip would be the blockers. Their job was to keep the birds from running out the end, shoot the fliers, and pressure the birds back into the walkers. The lead on the birds would be as much as twenty feet, mentally measured by multiplying the 2-1/2 foot length of the bird. The old men usually blocked and the young men usually walked.

Fun times.

I think Don Kaas had an 8 bore for sale at the Hausman's shoot last month in PA. It may still be available.

There will be an 8 gauge Parker "Project Gun" in the 2012 Silent Auction in October.

Charlie won't sleep for months now.

Don Kaas' 8 Gauge Parker is a very nice gun indeed! I remember the asking price was between $10k - $15k.
