bore diameter

Picked up a 1 1/2 12 1903 3.11 unstruck weight 28 inch bore measure an even 737 all the way end of chambers to starting of chokes. Hypothetically do you think the barrels r shootable? I'm shooting it but want your input.

Only an actual measurement of the minimum wall thickness would tell you if it's safe to shoot. But in theory if a 12 ga. is supposed to be .730 and you have .737, then you will loose .0035" in wall thickness, not a big difference.

I would agree - the wall thickness is the key factor

Calvin,

Those barrels are probably okay. If in doubt send them to me and I'll measure them inch by inch.

Maybe there is a member with a barrel wall thickness gauge who lives close or at least closer to you? Heck with all those pheasants you've got out there I'll bet someone with a gauge would visit you :)

Good luck!
Mark

If you're shooting it and it works, don't worry. UK rules require a reproof at .740 bore dia. You're under that. And min. wall thickness is .210 9 inches from the breech. With a Parker barrel, you're probably OK on that too. But as others say, a mic check will reveal all.

Still, if it works... don't fix it.

Best, Kensal
