very cool,

reuniting the gun and tag would a nice thing to see.

there is the list for work order tags available, may be a list could be started for tags members have that they are willing to reunite.

survival of any tags at all is a wonder

thanks for posting it

About a 90% pattern at 30 yards. That should probably be full and full. Approximately 130 pellets in the load and 115 in the target.

Bill ,Is this yours ???

That is a 1927 vintage serial number. The list price of a VH-Grade in the January 1, 1927, catalogue was $64.50. The next earlier catalogue I have is April 21, 1923, and the list price of a VH-Grade was $69. The next later catalogue I have is January 1, 1929, and the list price of a VH-Grade was $68. What went on in those years that the price went down $4.50 and then back up $3.50?

Bill Murphy 06-13-2012 06:08 PM

No, unfortunately it is not my gun. The notation with the price probably is a reference to the Excise Tax which is probably included in the $64.50. An interesting notation on the Jon Weber tag is the pencil note about the number of shot in a load of different size of shot. That looks suspiciously like a factory notation.

That $64.50 list retail price includes the excise tax. The letters are likely a store code for the lowest price they will actually sell the gun for and the clerk, who knows the code, would be working between those two prices with the customer.

hang tags

I am starting a thread of Hang Tags that people can search and also post with tags that they own. that way PGCA members have a chance of re-uniting tags to guns that they own or at least they can get a scan or copy of the tag.
