Parker VH value
 

I had posted this gun earlier, but it has changed hands now, and a friend of mine is considering it @ $1000.00
What are these going for now?
Parker No. 182110, a 30" VH, 1 1/2 Frame 14 1/4" LOP to a DHBP, 1 5/8" DAC, 2 7/8" DAH IMO appears to be an honest, un-touched gun.

By the looks of the fore end checkering and ware on but plate I say it is a real deal at that price.

The muzzle end of the rib looks suspect, have the barrels been cut?

Yup, measure those chokes carefully.

BBL's are 30". If I recall correctly, both bbls are very tight, like in the .30k range We will have the gun in hand, this Tuesday, and I will have my friend bring a bore gauge out.
The ultimate goal is to use this gun as trade bait to get into a DHE 12 ga. "shooter".

Todd: If the barrels have been cut $1,000 is too much IMHO More like $700 - $800. If original length $1,000 would be a bargain. Gun appears to be all original & unmolested. Great buttplate!

Nice honest gun if the barrels are original. The reason for questions on cut barrels is the picture showing the matting (wavy lines) on the rib going all the way to the end of the muzzle, on most guns there is about an 1/8 inch space between the matting and the muzzles. This however is not a 100% guide.

When Bill says measure the chokes carefully I believe he means their length of taper rather than the amount of constriction. Parker chokes should have around 4" of taper, less than that suggests cut barrels.

If the barrels are original the gun is a bargain at $1000. Depending on the day and the potential buyer it might sell for between $1400 - $1800 in my opinion.

Thanks, everyone. We will measure the chokes tomorrow. BTW, my friend is a member of the PGCA, but does not own a computer, or go on-line. (has owned a Parker for 30 plus years)
His goal is to eventually end up with a good shootable ejector gun, and (eventually) an underlifter.

Okay. Gun acquisition complete. We measured the chokes, and they read .37 Rt bbl, .38 Lt bbl, with about 4 1/2" of taper. Back-bore is .732. Bores are very nice!
The goal now is to acquire an ejector gun, with shootable dimensions. Not looking for a mint condition museum piece, but rather, something comparable condition. My friend would like a "D" grade, or above, but would look at a lower grade. He would like to use this gun as a trade, and pay whatever cash difference there is.
My friend is Charles Altenburg, PGCA member from Las Vegas. He does not have a computer, so only goes on-line from my house.
When we get done finding him an ejector gun, the next project will be to locate an Underlifter.
