toughest side by side made in yalls opinion...ive never been around the model 21 winchester but i have been around the fox lc smith parker ithaca stevens remington revelation several other low grade guns...my pick for the toughest and ruffest gun would be the stevens 311... charlie

tough gun

MHO..The Winchester 21 is built like a Sherman tank.Takes a real beating and just keeps going.I own #7902 in a Grade 3,made in 1935.Beat up some but have never spent a cent on repair of any sort. Not the most gracefull gun but a true 'soldier'.......Bill:cheers:

I agree with Bill Faulk regarding the Winchester Model 21. I have a skeet model and love it. The 21's just were built for strength. It may be a little heavy but maybe that is because I am no longer 25 years old. I also like their profile. For me just a beautiful gun.

I agree on the 21. I have owned two, a 16 ga and a 20 gauge. I sold both because I did not like the weight of the guns, but they are built to last several lifetimes!

You sold the 16? I thought you were going to let me shoot it.....Oh wait you have two....right???

Stephen Hodges 04-15-2012 06:22 PM

Yes Dave, I sold both................................You would not have liked the 16 ga anyway...............to heavy

Trojan, any of the three guages. Simple, staight forward, well designed and built. Frame and barrel weight appropriate for guage. Reliable.

I really have never had many repairs done on any but I have owned a Browning BSS Sporter in 20 Ga. that I purchased new in 1980 and I have most of the bluing worn off of her and must have at least 10,000 rounds through her and the old gun is as tight as if it has never been shot and the Bores still look as new ! I have never put another penny in it since I purchased it for just under $700.00 ! I would have to say ,She is one tough gun , especially for the money !
