Repro value

I am of the mind that the Parker repro is one of the best deals out there in general - quality for the price. What do you think that a say basic D grade would sell for new if manufactured today?

Chuck Heald 03-02-2012 08:34 PM

If they made them one at a time, $49,000. If they made 49,000 in South Korea, about $4900

If they were made again by the same standards that Winchester had them done in Japan in the 1980's in the quantity that the Repros were made, I would suggets they would probably retail closer to $7K+

Parker story tells us...Tom looked all around the world to find a maker. He said to have them made like the ones from japan would cost 12K, 1984 money....when they retailed for 3K 1984 they will never be made at a affordable price again...better buy the 2nd hand repro's now!

$12,000.00 dollars in 1984 had the same buying power as $26,178.83 current dollars.

Must be why the CSM parkers are 49K for the AHE.....today

Sam Casey 03-03-2012 12:45 PM

Yes, and my house should be worth $250K, but it isn't.

I'd love to be educated on what would make them so expensive. As a comparison, $10k will buy quite a nice Spanish double...
