Larry Baer Article in Shooting Sportsman

Larry Baer has a nice article in the new Shooting Sportsman. I haven't seen Larry Baer in years, did not know he was still active. His books on Parker shotguns have been out there now for nearly 40 years.

Bill, I enjoyed the article but I never knew he was that close to Tom Skeuse and the Parker Reproduction project.

Bill you made mention to me in the Parker 8 gauge hammer gun thread about a Parker book called Parker History or something ?

I have Larry Baeers book and the Johnson or Johnston book that was published around 1960 .

If you don't mind whats the name and author of the book you mentioned ?

Also is this something I might be able to pick up at Baltimore next month ?

Bill Murphy 02-15-2012 04:37 PM

We may have some books at Baltimore, tables B-4 and B-5.

The other choices are the Muderlak books and The Parker Story. The Muderlak books are great. Even his third book, Knight of the Trigger, although a semi fictional work, is very entertaining and sells for very little money. I may have to correct that "very little money" statement. I just looked on Amazon. I think The Parker Story is the book you are referring to. It is available for about $200 for the two volume set in Double Gun Journal. They are blemished copies that are not really blemished, just the publisher looking for a different price point without changing the "retail" price. Congratulations to Mr. Cote. What a guy.

Bill , this is the post I was making reference to ,

"Craig the information you seek is in The Parker Story, but it is not compiled in one paragraph. You have to either add up all the eights in the Grades section or separate the hammer from the hammerless in the list of eights in the Appendix."

So I should expect to pay about $200 for the book ?

Craig, yes and at $200 it will be money well spent.

A pair of books, about six or seven pounds of them.
