VH Wood?

Does anyone know if VH's were ever built with high grade wood? Thanks for the help.

What do you consider high grade wood. During the late Remington period there was some very nice wood put on V grades (like D to B grade wood). Eric

The Remington era VH-/VHE-Grades got a lot better wood than this 1930 VH-Grade 20-gauge my Wife gave me for my 55th birthday --

Thanks guys. I am trying to figure out if this VH has been restocked. It looked a little highend for a VH made in 1901.

The nose of the comb looks like later Remington and so does the wood. May have been sent back to Packer for a restock.A letter may or may not tell you.

Looks like a restock as the comb is squared instead of sloping. Very nice color and straight grained in wrist as is. Dave

Looks Remington to me. Does the DHBP have the spur at the top? A 1901 Parker would definitely have the spur.

No spur, so must be replaced. Thanks again.

The action panels look a bit more defined than a VH would normally be. Also, the grip looks a bit fat near the guard, or the checkering pattern just does not wrap around as far as it should. It is a nice job though.
Does the watertable of your gun have any additional markings on it? Or the barrel flats? If Remington restocked it as a repair, it would have markings on it from having the work done.

Thanks for the feedback. It is a gun I was thinking of purchasing, but will probably pass.
