Rare 20 gauge Parker

Hi guys. Decided I am interested in looking to possibly sell my shotgun. I would like to see what kind of offers I would get to see if it is worth my interest in selling. Let me know.

It is serial # 16348. Matching numbers. Appears all original. the piece of wood that detaches under the barrel and helps secure it has a repaired crack...not sure when that was repaired but probably years ago. It is a 26" length barrel, but records indicate the specs are 30".

It is very rare, as you indicated. Only 2 made. It is a Plain Twist Steel barrelled, 0 grade lifter action hammer 20 gauge. Serial number indicates this is dated 1879.

If I have to repost this in a different forum. Please let me know and accept my apologies for posting in the wrong area. Thanks

Yes you posted it in the wrong forum which I am sure you know. Parkers for sale forum is open to Parker members so you could join the PGCA and then post it in the proper forum. But I am sure you will get enough pm's so you won't have to join.... like you expected...!

Pay the $40 and join the PGCA! Then you can post the gun on the correct forum. $40 is less then the cost of a classified ad!!

What do you mean by rare, cut barrels and broken forend, lots of those around,,,
pictures to show us how rare??

Pat don't get him started he is trolling....

Second time in less then a week that we have a Forum Member fishing for a sale. When we ever learn?

Bill Murphy 02-02-2012 01:42 PM

This gentleman posted another thread where he asked for information on his gun and now he is merely going to the next step. Attempting to sell a gun on this site is far from trolling. A full description and pictures of the gun are on this forum (Stepdad's shotgun) that was last posted on December 23. Shouldn't be hard to find.

It's like I've been on another planet. I stay back for a while and then when I start looking again, I see a lot of posts about guns for sale. Some are obvious....."I've got this here gun for sale", others more disguised ..." If I were to sell this here gun, I wonder how much I could get for it? These sales attempts are located all over, in the general discussion, in the new member intros, in the forum questions.

Pardon me if I missed the announcement some place, but I thought John Dunkle and the board of directors set this website up so that only PGCA members could sell guns, they could only be Parkers, and the only place they could be sold was in the PGCA members only section under "PArkers for Sale". The reason for that was to encourage forum members to become PGCA members by giving them the incentive to be able to sell guns on this website. Now I see forum members circumventing that policy and PGCA members seemingly encouraging it by responding. So what inducement do we offer forum members to become PGCA members and move from riding free if the PGCA member only sales policy is ignored? Or is this something that nobody gives a damn about and everybody wishes I would shut up about it and go away?

Did the board of directors change the policy? Did the web administrators change the policy?

Bruce Day, PGCA know nothing and newbie from another planet

I guess if someone gets this gun for a decent price they aren't going to complain much about the broken "rules."

This area of the forum is now PGCA Member Only! In other words, this area is visible to only current PGCA Members - and for that, we are going to try a few things, like allowing the sale of Parker and fine double shotguns, along with Parts and Accessories for sale (no handguns and no other sporting firearms).

Bruce,
The info above is copied from the Guns for Sale section of the website and answers a couple of your questions. It would appear that shotguns other than Parkers can be listed but that sales of guns on our site are restricted to members only. The problem I see is that if non members can't open that area of the site they may not know that sales are restricted. Perhaps that info should be posted in another area if it's not already. As we all know some people will still try to take advantage and these threads should be pulled and the authors notified that on-line membership is quick and easy and will get their ad back up in the GFS section. That being said John D. has other things to do than monitor this site 24-7 so some of these posts will slip thru and then it's up to us members to correct the individuals and invite them to join us.
