16 ga.?
Going for snow geese in mo. ,mid Feb. I have 12 ga Orvis uplander [Beretta].but would love to shoot with my Rem.-Parker 16 vhe, choked.032and .032 extra full and extra full. Any suggestions whether this will do the job and what shells to use ? Can't afford rst nice shot as I'm told ,expect to shoot 40 to 60 rounds per day for 4 days. Thanks for all the great info. on this board. Herb

Snow geese are the exception. Leave the 16 at home. Where are you shooting?

Your 16 ga. VHE will definitely do the job over decoys. Others will suggest what shells to use.
It seems Bill and I disagree. Bill, why won't a 16 get the job done when it will take care of Canadas? |

Make sure you hit the Hickory Log for some ribs!

Dean, here in MD, the 25 goose limit is lifted this month, until March. You can shoot 100 or more a day, guns don't have to be plugged, and electronic callers are allowed. I doubt if a game warden would object to the use of eight gauge guns either. In MD and DEL, a 16 gauge Parker is a little out of place during the late snow goose season.

Apparently it's all about "reducing the herd" and stocking up on meat, so I can see where more firepower would be the order of the day under such opportunities.
Thanks for the enlightenment Bill. |
Linda's youngest came to visit this morning. He showed me pictures of a snow goose hunt last week. They only killed 38. The problem with snows on the shore is that on the days they aren't coming to your field, you put out 1000 of whatever you put out and kill none.

I'm going out on a limb here and say 'that's a lot of work...'
