GH Damascus Straight Grip in Canada
 

I have no vested interest in this but for our good neighbors to the north, Accuracy Plus gun shop in Ontario has a GH Damascus with a Straight grip, 30" bbls. on a 1 1/2 frame for $499.00 Canadian. Needs work but nothing overwhelming. Wish I could get one here for that price. Jim D.

Brian, spoke to them, barrels ring true, only a few small dents in left tube, checked book, unaltered as to original configuration with exception of pad, stock not cut. Serial # 94393

Thanks for the tip, Jim. I called and picked it up this morning. There doesn't seem to be too much to do on it. Apparently the dents are small with gentle slopes that I should be able to remove without a problem. The seller thought it would be fine to shoot with them there. He also said the bores were unpitted and he was confident they weren't honed. The barrel weight is 3(11). I think the stock must be cut unless it had a pad from the factory. LOP over the relatively thin pad is 14" but there is no inletted peak on the heel like I would expect on a GH that should have come with a DHBP. I may take a shot at removing and repairing the through bolt in the stock, or if I loose my nerve have it done by someone. I had checked the book while I was on the phone with him and it seemed a reasonable price. I don't have much for straight grip Parkers and the 1 1/2 frame is a favorite of mine for 12 gauge. I copied the photo and would welcome any comments, good or bad. Thanks again.

It looks to me like that buttstock has been replaced. The action panels come back way too far to be original Parker. And the Checkering is not correct on the wrist for a G. But apart from that. Looks like it was a great buy.

Yes the panels do go a long way back. I expect you're right about it being a replacement.

He is the one who put me on to that particular shotgun anyway. He is a gentleman and easy to talk to and deal with. But most of all he is a craftsman with way above average skills.

Thanks for the lead on Chris. I'll take off the stock and see how this one looks when it arrives before I decide whether to send it out. I do have some others that I may send to Chris. Good wood men are few and far between up here.
