parkers with silver plated receivers

over the years i have seen a few parkers with silver plated receivers. was this ever a factory option?

it is known that there was a gunsmith who worked south of boston in the first half of the 20th century. his name was kirkland, kirkwood or kirk something....

anyway, he offered a package of services intended to make guns resistant to the ravages of salt water. they included, silver plating of exposed metal parts, except for the barrels. he offered a copper wash for the barrels. and wood was coated with special marine varnishes, similar to that used on boat decks. i would imagine that special salt resistant lubricants were also provided. i have seen one of these salt resist guns. so i know they existed.

anybody else?

This Iver Johnson Skeeter has been nickel plated and the seller says it was for use on the big boats:
