Caution: Parker CHE 16 Ga not as it should be!!
I would like to give a heads up, or a caution, on Parker CHE 16 gauge listed on Nevada Auction (Proxibid), Jan 1 as lot #199. After a conversation with the owner, as listed in the DelGrego letter and looking at the pictures I have found what looks to be substituted (non-Parker) barrels on this shotgun. There is no barrel address or barrel steel type on the rib. The owner insists it is a Parker barrel, but I have included a picture of the barrel flats https://www.proxibid.com/AuctionImag...6873/199-9.jpg. which tells the real story. This Parker is listed as a straight stock with 28" barrels in the serialization book and now it is being sold as a pistol grip with 26" barrels.
You be the judge. Thought someone might want to know. Bill |

Is there any stamping on the side of the lug? We need good rib pictures to tell you what you have there. They have some characteristics of Remington barrels, but no repair codes and the serial number stamp is a bit sloppy. The rib will tell the tale. The stock appears to be a Del Grego job. What does the letter say? If they are Remington barrels, the different length is no mystery.

Should not Rem barrels have the Overload Proved stamp on the flats? I have a C 16 with replacement barrels and it does.
Still looking for a replacement set of good 1 frame damascus ejector 16's to bring it back to originality. 125 thou SN. |
Bruce, until we see the rib and the left side of the lug, we can't make any intelligent determination. Yes, I think it should have the Overload stamps, but I don't have a lot of Remington barrels to compare. I have never seen a Remington barrel with serial number stamps that bad. Some of the replacement barrel people in the sixties tried to imitate Parker markings but seldom did a good job. Lefever is another possibility. Let's see those pictures.

Here is a picture of my remington barrels that were put on a 16 ga. damascus gun. The serial number isn not on the side of the lug. It doesn't have the inscription on the rib either.
