Help - Parker 20ga (Pics)
 

I purchased my first Parker last year with the information and input from all the knowledgeable members on this forum.

Recently purchased this Parker. It is a 20ga, 26 inch titanic barrels & straight stock.

I took it to Nick Makinson and he measured the barrels for me.

Bore Diameter: .617 in both
Chokes: Right - SKT2 .010, Left .025 Full
Barrel thickness minimum left : .025
Barrel thickness minimum right : .023
Very nice bore no pits etc.

Left barrel where it is .023, the thickness is .028 to .029 towards the rib on top but when it goes around it goes down to .023 at 6 o'clock 7 o'clock near the bottom rib. Nick told me that this is an ultra light gun and that was how the barrels were struck and nobody has done anything to the insides of the barrel like honing, back-boring etc...

He examined and told me not to worry about the thickness but to take care not to knock it around as it could get dents and to use appropriate loads.

The barrel weight is 2lb 14oz on the barrel flats so I am sure it started as a light gun.

Any opinions will be highly appreciated. The Mershon white-line recoil pad will have to go, any suggestions?.

LOP is 15" with the 1" pad
Minimum barrel thickness is about 9" from the muzzle.

Nice gun! Good for you. I agree on the pad; it would have to go. The rest looks awesome.

Herb ,That is a beauty ! I would have to do something with the pad if it were mine ,it's way too long for me , your gun is beautiful ,CONGRATULATIONS ! These D Grade twenties are great guns ,I have called on two seperate dealers in the past that had a really nice straight grip DHE 20 Ga. advertised ,after talking with the first one ,I ended up buying a DH Grade 28 Ga. he just got in and the second time I found one , during the conversation the Gentleman ask if I had seen the CHE 20 he just listed and ,I ended up with a CHE 20 ," Just couldn't pass it up " and yet after all of these years I still haven't got my D Grade 20 Ga. ,Well ,it leaves something really special to look forward to ! Is it common to see a weight of 2lb 14oz on a 0 frame 20 ga.

My other gun 16ga on 0 frame has a barrel weight of 3lb 1 oz

You got a couple of great guns to carry in the field. You did mention the weight in first thread I just need to read more carefully. I got a heavy ol 10 that I need to trade but I always liked the big girls as well :rotf:
