Forend ?
Is there such a thing as a semi-beavertail forend for Parker shotguns and if so do they attach using the standard splinter mechanism. Thanks inadvance for youir help. Bill

Never say never but , no. People ordered some odd fore ends now an then but unless it letter it would likely be aftermarket. Fore ends are normally splinter or "trap style" aka beavertails most usually with the through bolt in the tip.

Jent,
Did the gun letter with that feature? If it didn't, then it's just another weird forend, no matter who agrees they think it could be factory. DLH |
forend ?
My Parker DH was made in 1905 and I assume it came with a splinter forend, the research letter does not say. I actually like the beavertail forend better but it's not that big of a deal, I was just wondering about the semi-beavertail configuration. The research letter also says the gun's weight is 7lbs 12 ounces, it sure didn't seem that heavy for the time I carried it pheasant hunting in South Dakota two weeks ago--maybe because it's just so darn beautiful. Never Say Never
Many photos of old time competitors show them with the fore hand around the barrels. The trap fore end was derived from the single barrel trap gun.
However, a three frame fore end on a two frame gun could produce the forend you describe. Best, Austin |
Destry made the best comment. Where is the letter? Sorry, Austin, but a #3 frame forend on a #2 frame gun looks like it was made that way. There is just no obvious difference.

It's not unusual to find an after market BT forend on a Parker. Some are nicely done others are not. The checkering is usually wrong and there is no through bolt. The forend lug on a factory BT is easily distinguished. Have there been factory BT forends documented with a lug meant for a splinter forend?

3 Frame
I dunno, Bill? I have a couple of three frames that look wider in the rack - I'll have to check. They are exposed hammer guns
