Hammer Gun Purchase
I bought a Parker Bros hammer gun from a neighbor -- my first Parker. I need some help with what I purchased. Here goes:
10 guage with 30-in barrels steel butt plate serial number 25,500 On the barrel flats is the letter T -- with a circle around the T Also, there's number 5245 on the barrel flats, with the number 8 slightly elevated next to the number. Has a semi-pistol grip and a patent date of April 11, 1876. Light engraving with scroll work on the lockplates, trigger guard and top lever. Locks up real tight, with some wear on the hammers where they strike the firing pins. I didn't pay much for the gun. Just curious what I've got. Thanks, MikeF |
Grade of Shotgun
In regard to the Parker shotgun (w/hammers), how can I tell what grade it is?
Thanks, MikeF |
Mike,
According to the ID and Serialization book, you have a Grade 0 hammergun with 32" Twist barrels and capped pistol grip stock. It would have a steel buttplate. You state your barrels are 30", if so they were probably cut down from 32" or the book could be wrong. The 5245 number on the flats would be the order number which is often found on guns in this S/N range. The T with circle around it means Twist and the rib inscription should also say Twist Steel. |
